city of Brugge (Bruges)

city of Brugge (Bruges), an hour away from Brussels,
This beautiful city transports you to the Medieval ages with its gingerbread
houses and cobble stoned streets and horse chariots doing the rounds...
The church spires and buildings look really really old (and whisper
tales of gore :) and every now and then one hears the church bell gong.
Its a kind of city where a knight in an armour would blend with the
surroundings and you feel soldiers could pop out of any corner and throw
you into the dungeons on the orders of the king. This city is called the
"Venice of the North" with canals running through the city and is a must
visit when going to Belgium. The historic centre of Bruges is a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. The bistros on this city square serve a variety of
sea food, but with prices in double figures this is something I had to
skip although had Belgian waffles with rasberry sauce and whipped cream
and it was yummy, had to order another one, this time with chocolate
sauce :) Also, this place boasts of some of the best beer in the world
to wash down your meal.
